Welcome to the City of Springfield, Florida. Our city is located between the cities of Panama City, Callaway and Parker in Bay County with close access to shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City Beach and Mexico Beach, home of the world’s most beautiful beaches are close by.
The city was severely damaged October 10, 2018 when Hurricane Michael made landfall. However, there is always a brighter side to a disaster such as this event. The city is rebounding quickly with homes and businesses being repaired or rebuilt and new construction and annexations for even more housing options.
The city officials and staff are working with our FEMA representatives, many federal, state and local agencies and National Parks Service to redevelop our city not for today, but for many years in the future. The following programs are in the design and development stages:
1 - Master plan for replacing our aging water, sewer and street infrastructure, which started before Hurricane Michael.
2 - Repairing, replacing and adding to all our parks and recreational areas to connect the city from one end to the other.
3 - Planning, designing and constructing a new city complex located in the center of the city, at the intersection of Transmitter Road and 11th street. The complex will include a new city hall building, police station building, fire department building, vehicle maintenance shop and warehouses for the public works department. Also a new Civic Center will be located at the old city hall location on 3rd Street (Hwy 22).
4 - Bay District School Board is working and planning for a new K-8 school where Everitt Middle School and Springfield Elementary is located on School Avenue and improvements to Rutherford High school.
5 - Recovery and Resiliency Partnership Project for revitalizing our parks and recreational areas, street scapes and stormwater management programs throughout the city, in partnership with several Federal, State, and Local Agencies along side the city, local business owners and private sector investors.
6 - The city is also in the stage of paving all out streets due to damage during the recovery effort. Our complete road paving project is set to start July 26, 2021 for the entire city.
7 - At this time we have 917 New Affordable Living Units in the process of being built, this does not include rebuilds.
